Ok so it is a rainy weekend around here but, do you know what that means? No guilt about, hanging out in the studio and doing something creative! So here is a little video for you, on one of my new favorite trends right now, chalkboards and chalk art. I hope it inspires you to make a creative mess in your paperlife too, and if it does share!

Last night the kids elementary did the coolest thing, and I wanted to share with you out there in case you are ever looking for a fun kids night at your school.
The school put on a transportation night and had volunteers bring their cool means of transportation for the kids to get in and explore. There was everything there including this:
A radio flyer wagon car!! And, yes it works, I see this thing tooling around town often in the summer. Isn't it the coolest?
There was anything and everything you could think of, bulldozers, tractors, atvs, a bread truck, motorcycles, combines, semis, and so much more.

in the back of the ambulance right before they were pulled out because it got called out to an accident. Now that was some major Coonkid excitement right there, and they are still talking about it this morning.
Such a fun and educational idea for the kids if you ever need one.
Its girls weekend over here at the Coon house. Jaycie Claire and I have all kinds of plans so stay tuned for those adventures. But, until then, take time to make memories to use to make a beautiful mess of your paperlife this weekend.

So today, I wanted to show you something and give you a gentle reminder. Teacher appreciation is right around the corner and, I love teachers! And appreciate my kids teachers so much. Each year I love planning what I am going to give them as a thank you for the lifetime of gifts they have given my Coonkids over the past year. This year, SHOCKER!, I wanted to do a mixed media piece and in the middle of the night this is what came to me.
I will be doing a "cafe class", more on those later, as to how I put this together but, in the meantime, everything you see on the canvas is what I do in my art journals just on a different surface. So, a little tip, after completing life journaling you will be able to make these as amazing gifts too!
But, back to the teachers, notice I did not use an apple, or primary colors, or a ruler stick, the one thing I always heard when counseling in the school districts was how much the teachers appreciated the gifts they received but after 5, 10, 15 years they really had no place left to stick a ceramic apple in their lives. Think about that when you are deciding on a gift. Teachers are regular people just like us and they may like ceramic banana's for all we know, why do we buy them so many darn apple things? (just putting that out there on the behalf of my teacher friends)
And if you are a teacher, with a paperlife and read here, MWAHHH! from me, you are shaping our future and have one of the most important professions on the planet.

Well, if you are anything like me and you have a love and passion for both the mixed media world and Scrapbooking you are in luck! I have been buried in this magazine for 2 days straight. I have read it cover to cover at least 3 times. I have looked up the personal blog of every artist published in here. And well, I just feel so inspired, excited, and most of all validated! Validated to find, there are so many others that have a love and passion for this type of scrapbooking!
Here is what I am talking about:
Seriously, you need to check this out, even if its just a browse through at Barnes and Noble to get some yummy inspiration! Or you can be like me, and pull the trigger for a subscription, even if it means a few less lattes for a while.
In all seriousness, it is pricey, but, this is not a magazine you look through and throw away, it becomes an inspiration resource for your library, especially if, you are a mixed media scrapper and it makes you feel as validated and inspired, as it does me!
One more thing to leave you with today. Great news on the home front, I called and got the lawn mower in for summer preparation and servicing today. You know what that means. Spring in right around the corner! We had 80 degree temps all weekend. I think I told you that yesterday but, I have to say it again ALL of MY WINDOWS are CLEAN!!!! I can see out to the sunshine and green grass now. WooHOO!

Hello Monday!
Wow----what a beautiful and productive weekend around here. Sunny and the 80's, I got so much yard work done that I am completely pumped and ready to buy flowers to plant. Get this, I even got all of my outside windows washed!!
And, I have to tell you what I did all day Friday and Saturday, while I was getting that stuff done. I took an online class, from someone I have to to share with you because, she is amazing. Her name is Jasmine Star, and she is an orange county wedding photographer. I first fell in love with Jasmine, her insight, and her work last fall when I again, took an online class from her that lasted 5 full days and followed her complete journey of shooting a wedding. I learned so much, and not just photography, but about business and people and LIFE! She is one of a kind, and I was not missing this weekend for anything. And, I am so glad I didn't, Jasmine doesn't fail, she has inspired me again beyond measure, and not just in my photography but, in my online endeavors,creativity, and how I want to live my life. Really, she is that GREAT. So, I have to give this plug for her, you can watch the class I took this weekend and even the one from last fall right here, at this fantastic creative adventure she is apart of at:
Check it out, it will not disappoint. It was so funny, I was bugging and bugging my BFF to watch this weekend, sending her link after link to it and of course, she passed it off as one of "Amy's crazy latest fads"! LOL! But, Saturday night when they replayed the days taping, I called her and threatened her (not really but sort of) that she HAD to at least turn it on and listen. Guess what she did, and I think its one of those rare moments where I could call her up and say "I told YOU!!!" I think she loved it too. And is a Jasmine Fan right along with me now!
Oh and Jasmine if you happen to read this, seriously, lets plan a girl's weekend and take our camera's and shoot away so, I can bask in your brilliance and pick your brain. hee hee (in my dreams I know)
OK, so speaking of online classes, I did go ahead and put the online Life journaling class, available for my blog readers on pre-sale, to find out more click on the class badge to the left. I plan on doing a big post for you in the next couple of days. And, can I say, this is good! I am in love! You do not want to let all of this education, and information on art journaling and mixed media pass you by. I tend to believe in the "go big or go home" theory of life and this is BIG!
