Hi!
Stopping in to let you know the blog will be taking a "Spring Break" this week.
Don't expect much here from us this week, we will be doing a "labor of love video extravaganza" all week for the upcoming Art Journaling class we have planned for you. And can I just say I am falling in love with it!
Be sure to mark your calendars for the papergirls next Tuesday though. They will be live at 12pm CST and talking all about organizing your Paperlife!
The Papergirls also have a blog hop party coming up soon featuring products from Elmers and Exacto, details shortly on that.

Oh one more thing, I would love to hear what you would like to see in the art journaling class. Any suggestions or questions would be greatly appreciated just leave them here for me.

Hi Paperlifers! Wanted to give you a peek into my art journal endeavors the last week or so. I have started doing people. NOT EASY! At least for me. I like how these turned out ok but, I am still having a hard time finding the techniques to get what I see in my mind on the pages. However, for no training and no clue really what I am doing, I at least feel (YIKES) good enough about them to give you a peek. So here you go, Keepin' it real:
this is me! And the title page to this journal. I do not recommend trying to put a hand within view like this until lots of practice later. Because wow! Close up it looks a little "alien-esque" But, I am proud of how I was able to capture the "feel" I wanted with her.
Another tip, facial details are HARD! This is a keepin' it real example for you. I highly recommend going "faceless" like the one below, when starting out on your peeps, this poor girls need a trip to Estee Lauder I am afraid or maybe even Dr 90210? But, I liked her sixties feel and the color scheme to go along with the quote. Another thing on this one is to be aware of proportion. I should have went much smaller on the facial area with her to decrease her cartoonish look.
I really like how this little guy turned out. Again, the arms are HARD to do, I don't recommend having them showing when you start out doing people. But, all in all, I love this one and I especially love "creating" little friends to hang out in my journal. Does that sound like I need a life? Yikes......hee hee!

Here it is, the cover of my next art journal. I filled my last one over the weekend and put this together for the next. I really like it, I like the french whimsy to it. The actual journal is one of the Moleskin cahier journals. I really like the paperbag look of this one. They come 3 in a pack so I am set for a little while.
In other news, I have been getting some questions in the comments and want to answer them here:
1.) I did get the Ipad 2 last Friday. I am liking it but, lots of the apps are not compatible with it yet so that is frustrating. Yes it is my first Ipad, Jason has one and the kids are on it all the time but, I haven't had one yet. I ended up getting the white 16Gb At&t 3g. We have the mobile me cloud so a lot of storage space is not that big of a deal to me. I think I am going to like it a lot, especially traveling this summer but, I will have to give you a final review after the apps update and I get out of the house to need it.
2.) I am not going to CKC St. Louis this time around. I am sad because all of my friends will be there and I will miss out but, the end of the school year is crazy around here, especially when Jason is gone so, I just can't do it this time:(
3.) My glue of choice right now for my art journals is Mod podge matte. I also love claudine Hellmouth's Ranger multi medium gel, probably the best, but I have a hard time getting it and it is a little harder on my pocket book:(
4.) I will be covering all the tips and tricks I have for curling pages in my art journal in the online class I am putting together.
Hmmmmmm, I know there is more but that is all I can think of right now. I will answer more on a later post. Anybody got any others they want to ask, nows your chance.

But, I feel like being reckless for once on this one and Dang it I am getting it!
Well, that is if there are any left by the time my turn comes up in line. ugggg... I dread the thought....anybody else caving?
Any words of encouragement?
I know, I am just looking for that someone to tell me its ok, go for it, you deserve it! But, sometimes when you do something crazy, irrational, and knowingly stupid you just need that.
OH THe GUILT! But, OH the IPAD 2 Pleasure!

Is it REALLY almost Spring? When I look out my window and see snow on the ground, it’s hard to believe (we had 8 new inches yesterday).
Not working at a local scrapbook store, I don’t get the chance to teach much anymore. I am excited to have the opportunity to teach at the Spring Scrapbook USA Expo in Sandy, UT.

OK so I introduced my new love (mixed media/art journaling) to my old love (scrapbooking) over the weekend and the 2 got along beautifully! (well at least I thought so.)
The lemon squeezing pictures, and I even did a multi-photo 2 page layout. Getting all wild and crazy over here!
And pictures from Mr. Tuckers 7th birthday party at CHuck e. CHeeses with his buddies.
Can you tell on this layout I stitched a pocket to hold the extra pictures I printed out as film strips. Its an option I have in Lightroom the photo software I use. I love doing interactive pages like that when I have a ton of good photos.
So.....what do you think? Hope you took time to make a beautiful mess of your paperlife over the weekend.

Earlier last week this guy showed up on my doorstep:
The Tamron 28-75 f 2.8
Talk about one of the hardest decisions I have ever made! Sheesh, I mean I have been stressing over this verses its more expensive Canon version since a photo conference I attended late last summer. To say it STRESSED ME OUT, is an understatement and crazy I know, but it did. And I am happy to report, so far so good.
I wanted something that would be great in lowlight, have a little bit of zoom coverage, and stay at a low steady f stop.
I have just begun using it and testing it, and will make a more final decision on it when I can get outside and shoot but, I was really happy with the results I got the other night in very lowlight while the Coonkids and I made Lemonade with our new-antique lemon juicer. I cannot wait to scrapbook these! And I will put those up for you when I do but, until then take a look and see what you think.
Wanted to point this one out. I should have turned the flash off that is why I got the High reflection in Tuckers dark hair, and actually all of these, I had forgotten to turn the flash off and that would have made them that much better. I never use a flash, I guess I was just in the moment and thats ok!
see the heavy shadowing in Jaycie's right eye, again that dreaded flash!
Overall though, given it was my first time with the lens and super low light with a flash, I am pretty excited to see what else this lens can do. Oh, and I should also mention I shoot with the canon 7D and LOOOOOOOVE IT!!!!
